Steam Lose to Cherokee in Shootout

The Queen City Steam took a point but came up short in the shootout against the Toledo Cherokee November 3rd at Sports Plus Ice Rink.

Toledo came out of the gate quickly when Robert Ward scored in just 38 seconds. But the Steam roared back with 4 straight goals - Patrick Nelson (PP 8:05), Steven Brown (PP 12:17), Ryan Stephens (14:28), and Nelson's second of the night (PP 15:47), chasing Toledo's starting goaltender Everett Graves. However, the Cherokee brought it back within 1 when Ryan Sexsmith and Doug Lindensmith scored 93 seconds apart.

Sexsmith would score the loan marker in the 2nd tying the game up at four each. Toledo would take the lead when Frank Matyok scored on the power play at 14:10 of the 3rd, but Liam Tully would bring the contest even less than 2 minutes later.

There was no scoring during the overtime period.

It was nearly all Toledo in the shootout going 4 for 5. Patrick Nelson would score the loan shootout marker for the Steam.

The Steam round out the weekend series Sunday November 4th. Game time is 1:00 PM
