The QC Steam are looking for Housing Parents
The Queen City Steam organization exists to help young men to develop their hockey skills at a much more competitive level. Junior A Hockey increases the number of games played along with a more intense practice schedule. Typically, these young men (ages 16-20) are interested in gaining exposure to College and Professional scouts so that they may further their hockey careers. Most of our players come from outside the Greater Cincinnati area. It is our belief that these young men do better when they can live in a more stable environment. Since many are away from home for the first time, it is important that we match each player with the right kind of family environment. Many times this experience can become a life long relationship between the two families involved. We go to great lengths to match the player with the right family.
What do we need from a host family?
1. A room for the player to sleep
2. A desk where they can do homework if needed (possible internet connection)
3. Access to meals either with the family or by themselves
4. Support for them as they are away from home
5. Make sure they are following the rules set forth in the Player Contract
6. Feedback on what you see in their off ice activities
What does a Host Family get back in return?
1. A $250 a month stipend to help defray costs
2. Help with Nutritional needs for the player
3. Free tickets to all home games
4. An upper level player available to help your player
5. A sense of pride knowing you've help represent Cincinnati at its best.
It is the goal of the coaching staff to treat these young men as if they were in the professional ranks. They are expected to be to practice on time and ready to go. They are expected to act maturely and appropriately at all times. It is not the job of this organization to "raise" these young men; however we are here to assist wherever possible
